Zorba and Zerox, brother and sister, are houndy huskies with famous Alaska village racing bloodlines. By the time Zorba and Zerox were 18 months old, they had run in several major races. Zorba is very sensitive and while he can run in lead, I learned that his favorite position is wheel dog right next to me and the sled. Zerox was well on her way to be a gee-haw leader in a professional racing kennel when the pressure started getting to her so she came to us. Described as a real "sparkplug" when we bought her, Zerox was definitely throwing some sparks but in a way that was disruptive to her teammates! We have employed a number of different strategies to work with Zerox's behaviors while learning what makes her happy in the team. Zerox is running in lead position with Tutka and is doing great minus the occasional distraction!
